Summer Book Club
We're starting a WestSide Summer Book Club! Here's how a book club works:
- Get the book at your local library or bookseller.
- Read it.
- Discuss with others. We have two options with two ways to engage: in person or online.
The books that we will read are not necessarily about faith, but in our discussions, we will seek to connect how our faith intersects with the stories told.
Dates and Books
Monday, June 29 at noon or 7:30 PM
This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger
William Kent Krueger, a Minnesotan, also wrote Ordinary Grace, which was an award-winning book and a New York Times best-seller. This book is chosen knowing that it will tell us a good story. Good stories have this way of helping us to see and understand life in more meaningful ways.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
While this novel can be found in the Young Adults Fiction section in stores and libraries, it is no less a novel for adults as well. This book, again, stands as a good story, but it will also help us consider and talk about matters of race, bias, and preconceived judgments.
Date and Book TBD
